We are thrilled to be collaborating with Rare Character Whiskey Co. for our first ever Curiada private release.
At the helm of Rare Character is Pablo Moix, an entrepreneur and restaurateur who is well-known in whiskey circles for his excellent pours. For the last two decades he's been sourcing barrels from what have become some of the most sought-after distilleries and distillers.
Rare Character Whiskey Co. offers a different kind of whiskey experience. Though hailing from well-known distilleries, each selected barrel is totally set apart, chosen for its distinctive qualities that are owed to something unique. Perhaps the barrel was forgotten, or tucked away, or perhaps it aged uncharacteristically because of the vagaries of weather, place, or human happenstance. Though each of these barrels is different, all of them drink delicious.
With his unerring palette, Pablo chooses for exceptional quality and a distinctive pour. And now, he's allowing us to share the same with you.
The one thing that's not allowed? To disclose the name of the distillery. But trust us when we say that any whiskey lover is sure to enjoy this one-of-a-kind collaboration of rare character.

Tasting Notes From Pablo Moix
Pablo pours this one against Four Roses Small Batch Select and most people (including us!) prefer this. On account of where and how this barrel was aged, it was exposed to an atypical amount of airflow, so it drinks more like an 8 year old bourbon and has an exceedingly long finish.
Tasting Notes From Joshua Case, Curiada Bourbon Taster
Nose: A little reserved at first. As it opens up there are pleasant notes of cinnamon rolls, raspberries, cigar wrapper (think pre-smoked cigar), oak, char, more tobacco.
Taste: Raspberries, blackberries, oak, and vanilla. It's fruity and earthy.
Finish: A long dry, slightly sweet fade of caramel, vanilla, and oak.
Overall Thoughts: It definitely tastes older than 5 years. I'd say if tasting blind that I'd think it's closer to the 15 year range. If your looking for an oak-forward, spicy and slightly fruity bourbon this is where it is at.
Suggested Serves
We'd recommend you sipping this one neat. A classic Old Fashioned will also do the trick.
Please drink responsibly. CA Residents: Proposition 65 Warning.
