Tapatio Tequila Añejo
It's challenging to find an añejo that retains the agave-forward taste, but this one is a prime example. The oak from the aging comes through and the agave's sweetness complements its presence.
This is an excellent value spirit (note its one liter format) of uncompromising quality, from La Alteña Distillery, a highly-regarded NOM that also produces other worthy spirits, like El Tesoro.
This is a cult favorite that was only available in Mexico for 75 years but at long last was released to the US in 2013.
1 Liter & 80 Proof
Tasting Notes | Sweet cooked agave at the front, vanilla and juicy pear, a subtle, peppery spice and cinnamon on finish. |
|
Classic: Exceptional margaritas can be made with this excellent bottle but we'd recommend sipping for the unadulterated experience
Unexpected: make it a Tequila Old Fashioned

This is an artisanal, hand-crafted tequila, following a process used by this family for generations. It starts with the Tequilana Weber agave, which is grown on ranches owned by the family and harvested when between 6-8 years old. |
Founder Facts |
"La Alteña" distillery was founded by Don Felipe Camarena Hernández in July 7, 1937, and in 1940 began selling tequila 100% Tequilana Weber agave under the brand name "Tapatío." The brand was finally brought into the US market in 2013. |
