What is Westland Whiskey?
Westland Whiskey is a Seattle-based American Single Malt whiskey producer, regarded for its dedication to creating full-bodied, meticulously crafted spirits. Unlike many American whiskey producers, Westland Whiskey pivots away from the typical corn- and rye-based spirits, instead using barley as their primary grain. They are well-known for their innovative approach to whiskey making, incorporating elements of the Pacific Northwest into their products, from the locally malted barley to the region's unique oak barrels used during the maturation process.
What is the history of Westland Whiskey?
Founded in 2010 by Emerson Lamb and Matt Hofmann, Westland Whiskey was born from a bold ambition to create an American Single Malt that matches the quality and mystique of the finest Scottish distilleries. They were one of the very first U.S. distilleries to prioritize malted barley—most commonly used in Scotch whiskies—and single malt production techniques. Matt Hofmann, a seasoned maltster and distiller who trained in Scotland, brought back historic Scottish practices to be melded with a distinctly Northwest American terroir. In just over a decade, Westland Whiskey has positioned itself at the forefront of the American Single Malt revolution, pushing past boundaries and transforming the urban Nashville landscape into an unexpected home for one of the world's best new-age, whiskey distilleries.
