Established in 1862 by Dupré Barbancourt, a Frenchman who moved to Haiti, Barbancourt Rum has charted a remarkable journey. Over the years, it reciprocated its success back to the community by staying locally-owned and providing employment to local farmers and artisans. Saddled by the loss of the founder in 1896 with no heir, the brand was passed on to his wife Nathalie Gardère who led with her nephew Paul Gardère, thus preserving the Barbancourt legacy.
