View RecipesFinding any cachaça besides the usual 4 or 5 outside of Brazil is a hassle, so I jump on any chance to try new expressions when I find them. I am glad I got this bottle! Very fruity on the nose and tongue, no astringency, a bit sweet in that effervescent way good cachaça is, with a long pleasant finish on a faint vegetal note. Very enjoyable on its own or in a Caipirinha. One of my favorite pratas and at this price, definitely the best value as well.
I suspect this one stands out a bit more because of the copper pot distillation, whereas most of the cachaça I have samples has been column. Also the bee images on the bottle are fun and playful and apparently their plants are pollinated by native stingless bees. Neat.
I'm new to Cachaça (Summer 2021) so I'm not sure I can provide a great review but I can at least compare it to the mass market brands available at my local ABC stores in NC. This was purchased on the recommendation of Joey and I've now going back and ordered an additional 3 bottles so if actions speak louder than words I must like this Cachaça and I do. I find the flavor to be much more deep and fresh and fruity over the other Cachaça brands I've tried. I've enjoyed this neat, on the rocks and of course in a Caipirinha where it is truly outstanding. This has become my go to Cachaça so I recommend you give it a try.
The nose reminded me of rum but more herbaceous. This spirit opened with a brief alcohol burn that evolved into a sweet sugarcane flavor. The finish was this funky herbal honey flavor that I did not expect but found delicious. Abelha makes a great cachaca, and I like it more than the Leblon cachaca, which is much more fruity by comparison.
A bit rough on the nose, but not offensive. Starts with a bit of heat which gives way quickly to sweetness with a molasses finish that's almost herbal. Having limited experience with this style of spirit I can only say that it compares favorably to other examples I have sampled.
