Liber & Co. Marion Blackberry Syrup is a Syrup from the Liber & Co. Cocktail Syrups brand hailing from America.

What is Liber & Co. Marion Blackberry Syrup?

Liber & Co. Marion Blackberry Syrup captures the essence of wild Marion blackberries, offering a rich, complex flavor profile that's perfect for cocktails and mocktails alike. Interestingly, the Marion blackberry, despite its name, wasn't discovered in Marion County, Oregon, but was actually developed by the USDA's Agricultural Research Service in Corvallis, Oregon, in 1956 as a cross between the Chehalem and Olallie blackberry varieties.

Why do we love Liber & Co. Marion Blackberry Syrup?

Cocktail aficionados will appreciate Liber & Co. Marion Blackberry Syrup for its commitment to using real, fresh Marion blackberries—a Pacific Northwest varietal prized for its intense flavor and perfect balance of sweetness and acidity. This syrup stands out from mass-produced alternatives by avoiding artificial flavors or preservatives, instead relying on a simple blend of berries, pure cane sugar, and citric acid to create a vibrant, true-to-fruit taste that elevates both classic and contemporary cocktails.

How do you drink Liber & Co. Marion Blackberry Syrup?

Liber & Co. Marion Blackberry Syrup shines in a variety of refreshing cocktails, particularly those featuring gin, vodka, or bourbon as the base spirit. While it's delightful year-round, this syrup truly comes into its own during warm summer evenings, adding a burst of berry flavor to drinks served over ice, and it pairs wonderfully with grilled meats or light, tangy desserts like lemon tart or cheesecake.

Nose: Fresh, juicy blackberries with a subtle floral undertone. Hints of lemon zest and vanilla add complexity. The aroma is reminiscent of homemade blackberry jam cooking on the stove.

Palate: Rich, concentrated blackberry flavor balanced by a pleasant tartness. Notes of dark cherry, cinnamon, and clove emerge. The texture is smooth and syrupy without being cloying. A touch of acidity keeps it from feeling too heavy.

Finish: Long-lasting blackberry essence with a subtle warmth from baking spices. A gentle tannic quality reminiscent of black tea lingers. The finish is clean and inviting, leaving a pleasant fruity sweetness on the palate.

Liber & Co. crafts their Marion Blackberry Syrup using ripe, Oregon-grown Marion blackberries, which are prized for their intense flavor and deep color. The berries are gently cooked with pure cane sugar and a touch of lemon juice to create a vibrant, fruit-forward syrup that captures the essence of summer in every bottle.

  • Liber & Co. Marion Blackberry Syrup contains more than a pound of fresh Marion blackberries in every bottle, making it one of the most concentrated fruit syrups on the market.
  • The Marion blackberry used in this syrup is a hybrid berry developed in 1956 by the USDA, combining the flavors of raspberry, blackberry, and boysenberry into one uniquely complex fruit.
  • Unlike many commercial syrups, Liber & Co. uses a cold-process method to preserve the delicate flavors of the Marion blackberry, resulting in a syrup that tastes remarkably similar to fresh-picked berries.
  • Main Ingredient: Marion blackberries

Delicious blackberry flavor. It's meant for cocktails, but it is a non alcohol syrup so I put it on vanilla ice cream, cheese cake and into tea and coffee.
