Tasting Notes

Nose: Intensely floral with honeysuckle dominating the first impression. As it opens, candied ginger and nutmeg bring warmth and spice.

Palate: Surprisingly creamy vanilla and yogurt-like notes greet the palate, creating a softer entry than the nose suggests.

Finish: Long and smooth with a distinctive peach-skin texture. Candied ginger returns from the nose alongside buttery toffee notes.

Papa Rouyo 2022 showcases the terroir of a single 4-hectare plot in Guadeloupe, made from pure juice of Canne Matos and Canne Red sugarcane varieties, then pot-distilled and aged for just one year in a blend of ex-Cognac and ex-new French oak barrels—losing over 8% to the angels' share resulting in an intensely aromatic rum bottled at full proof with a notably high ester content of 101.6 gr/hLPA.
