Palate: Starts with a cooling menthol sensation that quickly warms into spicy territory curry powder, cardamom, and cinnamon create a complex heat.

Finish: Long and coating with pronounced tannins that give it a fibrous, woody quality like chewing fresh sugarcane stalk.

Habitation Velier Renegade 2020 is crafted entirely from pure sugar cane juice using two local Grenadian varieties Lacalome Red and Yellow Lady Cristalline grown on different parcels of the distillery, then distilled in pot stills and aged for three years in a combination of French oak, American new oak, and ex-bourbon casks with a hefty 14% angel's share that accelerates tropical maturation and concentrates flavors remarkably fast.

• This rum loses a whopping 14% of its volume to the "angels' share" in just three years. That's about five times faster than Scotch whisky aging in Scotland.
• The label lists an ester content of 207.2 gr/hlPA. This number falls into what's called the "medium ester" range, giving you those fruity pineapple and exotic notes without crossing into the funky, overripe territory of Jamaican high-ester rums.
