Balcones Brimstone Whisky is a Other Whiskey from the Balcones Whisky Collection brand crafted in United States .

Balcones Brimstone Whisky stands out with its unique smoky profile, achieved by smoking the whisky itself rather than the grains. This unconventional Texas spirit pays homage to the Lone Star State's barbecue traditions, using sun-baked scrub oak native to the region to impart its distinctive smoky character.

Why We Love It

Balcones Brimstone Whisky stands out for its innovative "corn whisky" approach, where Texas scrub oak smoke is applied directly to the corn before fermentation, rather than smoking the finished whisky. This unique process creates a bold, savory profile with notes of campfire, barbecue, and spice that's unlike any traditional scotch or American whiskey, making it a must-try for adventurous cocktail enthusiasts seeking a truly Texan whisky experience.

    Excellent dark whisky

I was first drawn to the almost purple color of this whisky and knew I had to get it. It is good neat, but even better on the rocks thanks to the slightly higher-than-normal ABV. Chilled, one can taste the difference in original grain (blue corn), as well as a wonderful smokiness. This isn't a Laphraoig, it isn't earthy, but it does have a nice smoke to it that isn't overpowering or all that one tastes. I'm looking forward to buying it again when I run out!
