I was a little wary of the legendary status of Wray & Nephew rum after trying many rums suggested by others and finding them to be not worth the hype. I am very proud to say that this rum delivers in every way it has ever been described and boasted about. Decently smooth with a lot of funk and burn, and laden with the taste of ripe banana. The flavor of ripe banana is not subtle. You will smell it and you will definitely taste it and it tastes delicious.
Paired with a grapefruit soda (I do not have access to Ting, but Mexican Squirt and Jarritos work well in a pinch) it makes a very refreshing beverage that is quick and simple while not overpowering any of the flavors of the rum.
I highly recommend this rum and hope you can find a bottle and it is in stock because it is worth having.
I didn’t quite understand how to make a rum drink I liked until a friend into tiki drinks gave me a bottle of this as a housewarming gift. This stuff is so tasty and easy to work with, it’s near impossible to make a bad tasting drink with it.
It really is a shame it seems to have gone up in price, really loved this back when it was 20 dollars. Not going to ever find a rum like this with it's sweat almost rotten banna taste and slight woody nutty after taste. Recommend on Ice or in a Daiquiri, or as Bumbo or Grog.
