It is bottled at a robust 53.7% ABV.
It masterfully layers classic Demerara richness with unexpected malt notes. The extensive tropical aging provides a dense and earthy foundation, while the Teeling Irish Whiskey cask finish introduces elegant touches of orchard fruit and creamy malt. It is an intricate and highly collectible spirit.
This is a complex and highly mature spirit meant to be savored. Its absolute best application is served neat in a tasting glass. Adding a single drop of water will help unlock its dense layers of smoke, spice, and fruit.
Nose: Bold aromas of oak spice, dark molasses, roasted chestnut, and tar are balanced by summer berries, thyme, and honey.

Distilled from molasses by Demerara Distillers Limited in Guyana, the rum first ages for 13 years in former bourbon barrels in the tropical Caribbean climate. It is then transported to France for one year of continental maturation in French oak Ferrand Cognac casks. Finally, the spirit is finished for seven months in Teeling Single Malt Irish Whiskey casks.

View RecipesI most enjoy Jamaican rum, but Guyana is a close second; they do amazing things on those old stills. I don't know if anybody else has tried putting it in Irish whisky casks, but... it works. I've had a ton of El Dorado expressions and other well-aged bottlings, but this is a worthwhile standout.
