Planteray Mister Fogg Navy Rum Sail No 1 is a Other Rum from the Planteray Rum brand crafted in Barbados.

Planteray Mister Fogg Navy Rum Sail No 1 is an exceptional limited edition blend that pays homage to historic British naval rum traditions. Bottled at a formidable 55.7% ABV, it masterfully combines molasses based rums from Barbados, Trinidad, Guyana, and Jamaica to create a remarkably deep and robust spirit.

Why We Love It

It perfectly captures the powerful yet balanced profile of a true naval rum. The blend is meticulously structured with 43% Barbados rum for smoothness, 36% Trinidad rum for structure, 17% Guyana rum for rich intensity, and 4% Jamaica rum for bold esters. It is a highly authentic, complex, and uncompromised overproof rum.

How to Drink It

Its robust proof and deep flavor make it an outstanding choice for classic tiki and naval cocktails. Its absolute best application is as the base in a traditional Navy Grog or a strong Rum Punch. It also opens up beautifully when sipped neat with a single drop of water.

Tasting Notes

Nose: Rich aromas of dried fruit, orange peel, dark chocolate, and vanilla.

Palate: Complex and full bodied with prominent notes of smoked molasses, caramel, and exotic spices.

Finish: Warm and lingering, leaving traces of ripe plum, sweet molasses, and soft oak.

How It's Made

This rum utilizes both pot and column stills from four distinct Caribbean origins. After tropical aging in former bourbon casks, the barrels undergo a dynamic aging process at sea as they are transported to France. Upon arrival, the rum undergoes a final double aging in used oak barrels and large open wooden vats to replicate the humid and oxygen rich environment of historic London naval docks.

Fun Facts

  • The 55.7% ABV honors the exact historic Navy Proof standard required by British sailors.
  • Master Blender Alexandre Gabriel developed this series after years of research alongside renowned rum historian Matt Pietrek.
  • The open air vat blending method specifically echoes the techniques historically used at the Deptford Victualling Yard in London.

    Needed More

Bought 2nd bottle of No.1 after comparing it side by side with No.2, both are quality rums for the price. I and my tasting buddy get more richness & complexity smoky, tobacco, tar, dark fruits, tropical fruits, from No.1 an obvious molasses rum with some pot still characteristic shining through Blended Navy strength pot & column extra aging

    Yarr

A superb and complex rum, displaying distinct pot-still complexity (and a delightful yet balanced funk edge from the Jamaican component). I sipped what I've had of mind, but it would be a shame not to make at least one daiquiri with this stuff, and I can see the largeness of this rum holding up beautifully in a punch. A sipper for sure, but keep a rough count of how many times you refill your tumbler!

    Nice navy rum

Good taste. It’s very kola nut forward with some spice. Heavier molasses note than most of the rums in this style. Closest rum I’ve tasted is Lost Spirits (RIP) navy.

Mixes well and hides proof in a drink really well. Present but not overpowering.
