The Rums of Mexico Melaza con Muck is a Other Rum  crafted in Mexico .

This experimental rum from Guadalajara's Satvrnal distillery ferments high-grade molasses with "muck" for 15 days to create funky, high-ester flavors reminiscent of Caribbean rums—and here's the kicker: it's made by two first-generation distillers who built their own hybrid copper still and are pioneering an entirely new category of Mexican rum that tastes like chocolate-covered strawberries meet overripe bananas.

Why We Love It

Melaza con Muck represents a bold new frontier in Mexican rum-making, where two first-generation distillers fermented high-grade molasses with their own proprietary muck for 15 days to create intensely funky, high-ester flavors reminiscent of Caribbean jammy rums—delivering wild notes of brûlée bananas, chocolate, strawberry candy, and salty strawberry gum that you simply won't find in traditional Mexican spirits.

In a blind taste test this is undoubtedly Jamaican

Think Hampden, not Alambique Serrano! I really like this rum. I think it’s really interesting that we get a rum this style from a Mexican distillery. After tasting a sample I definitely wanted to support them by buying a bottle. I feel certain I will enjoy it for some time. Value-wise it’s more like 3 stars than 5 because I could buy Rum-Fire for 1/3 or aged Hampden for the same money. That said, I love to see this and look forward to enjoying it.
