    A Different Kind of Funk

    As an avid collector of quality rums, I was excited to finally try the Hamilton rum lines as they're not easy to find in my area. In summary, I don't plan on buying this version again. Although I love their Hamilton 86 Demerara selection, this pot still funk is not to my liking. It has a very 'grassy banana' linger on the palate that just doesn't work in my often go-to plantation punch. I've not tried it in a classic daiquiri yet, but typically if you don't care for it neat, then you probably won't care for it in a cocktail. As I've said often, "In order to have a good composite, you need to start with good components". In other notes, it's a very light and dry rum, I would not place it in a traditional gold rum category. I'll keep experimenting and sipping on it, perhaps I'll acquire a better taste for it.
