Ferrand Dry Curaçao Yuzu Late Harvest is a Fruit Liqueurs from the Ferrand brand crafted in France.

Ferrand Dry Curaçao Yuzu Late Harvest is a brilliant modern twist on a historic 19th-century French liqueur. Developed by Maison Ferrand’s Master Blender Alexandre Gabriel in collaboration with cocktail historian David Wondrich, this expression replaces traditional bitter orange with whole, late-harvest Mediterranean yuzu for an electrifying, deeply aromatic spirit.

Why We Love It

It captures the bright, complex essence of yuzu, a beautiful cross between lemon, mandarin, and grapefruit, while maintaining the rich, luxurious mouthfeel of a classic Cognac-based curaçao. It is perfectly balanced, offering a tart citrus punch beautifully softened by a pastry-like sweetness and subtle baking spice.

How to Drink It

This is a phenomenal, premium cocktail modifier. Its best application is elevating classic citrus-forward cocktails like a Margarita, a Sidecar, or a White Lady by swapping out your standard triple sec. Thanks to the depth of its Cognac base, it is also highly enjoyable sipped neat or simply poured over a large ice cube.

Tasting Notes

Nose: Aromatic bursts of fresh yuzu and mandarin peel, supported by vanilla bean, marzipan, and delicate floral hints of orange blossom and rose geranium.

Palate: Bright, layered, and rich. Candied citrus and tropical fruit transition into decadent notes of almond, plum, toffee, and nutmeg.

Finish: Long and lively, leaving lingering citrus oils, herbal nuances, and a soft, sweet vanilla pastry note.

How It's Made

Whole yuzu fruits are macerated in grape spirit for a week before being distilled in traditional copper pot stills. This pure yuzu distillate is then expertly married with a subtle yuzu infusion, bourbon vanilla, French brandy, and premium Ferrand Cognac before bottling at 40% ABV.

Fun Facts

  • The yuzu used for this liqueur is intentionally left on the tree past its peak maturity (harvested in February instead of the fall) to naturally concentrate its aromatic oils and sweetness.
  • The fruit is sourced exclusively from L'Agrumiste, a renowned, biodiverse citrus orchard located in Morocco.
  • This release builds on the massive success of Maison Ferrand's original Dry Curaçao, continuing their mission to revive historic, 19th-century liqueur styles for modern cocktail culture.

I made the featured cocktail, a Yuzu Meringue Sour and it's a wonderful dessert in a glass! Can't wait to try this liqueur in a Margarita 😋
