El Tesoro Blanco Tequila
750ml & 80 Proof
What is El Tesoro Blanco Tequila?
El Tesoro Blanco Tequila stands out for its commitment to traditional production methods, including the use of a tahona wheel to crush agave and copper pot stills for distillation. Interestingly, the distillery's location at 7,200 feet above sea level makes it the highest elevation tequila producer in Jalisco, resulting in a slower fermentation process that contributes to the spirit's unique flavor profile.
Why do we love El Tesoro Blanco Tequila?
El Tesoro Blanco Tequila stands out for its traditional production methods, including the use of a tahona wheel to crush agave and natural open-air fermentation. This unaged tequila is bottled at its exact distillation strength without dilution, preserving the purest expression of blue agave and resulting in a uniquely bold, complex flavor profile that cocktail enthusiasts will appreciate.
How do you drink El Tesoro Blanco Tequila?
El Tesoro Blanco Tequila shines when sipped neat or over ice, allowing its bright agave flavors and subtle complexities to take center stage. It's also an excellent choice for crafting crisp, refreshing cocktails in warmer months, pairing beautifully with citrus-forward dishes or light, spicy Mexican cuisine.
Nose: Fresh, vibrant agave takes center stage, accompanied by bright citrus notes of lemon and lime zest. Subtle hints of black pepper and a touch of minerality add complexity.
Palate: Clean and crisp with a silky texture. The agave sweetness shines through, balanced by herbaceous notes reminiscent of fresh-cut grass. Citrus flavors persist, joined by a mild spiciness and a slight olive brine character.
Finish: Long and satisfying with a peppery warmth. The agave lingers, complemented by a gentle earthiness and a whisper of vanilla. A slight mineral tang provides a clean, refreshing conclusion.
El Tesoro Blanco Tequila is crafted using traditional methods at the La Alteña distillery, where ripe Blue Weber agave piñas are slowly cooked in old brick ovens, then crushed using a two-ton volcanic tahona wheel. The resulting juice is fermented with wild, airborne yeasts and double-distilled to proof in copper pot stills, bottled without dilution at 40% ABV to preserve the pure, intense agave flavors.
