Planteray 5 Years Rum, distilled at the West Indies Rum Distillery, is a showcase of Barbados rum's excellence. Founded in 1893 on the pearl- white sands of Brighton Beach, our distillery has preserved the rich history of Barbadian rum-making, thanks to archives and equipment that stretch back over a century. This rum is a blend of Barbadian pot- and column-still rums from the West Indies Rum Distillery, matured in ex-Bourbon casks on the shores of the Caribbean sea and then for one year in the southwest of France, in ex-Ferrand casks after travelling by sea.
It serves as the perfect introduction to premium Barbados rum. The blend masterfully balances the rich natural sweetness of molasses with elegant notes of vanilla and toasted oak. It is highly approachable, incredibly smooth, and consistently delivers outstanding value.
It is a highly versatile spirit. Its best application is acting as the foundation for classic cocktails like a Rum Punch, an Old Fashioned, or a premium Cuba Libre. Its smooth profile and subtle sweetness also make it an excellent choice for sipping neat or over ice.
Nose: Inviting aromas of toasted marshmallow, pipe tobacco, baked fruit, and roasted coconut.
Palate: Rich and slightly sweet. Prominent notes of chocolate, caramel, and vanilla blend beautifully with fresh raisins and tropical fruit.
Finish: Medium in length and very smooth, leaving satisfying hints of dark chocolate, brown sugar, and toasted oak.
The rum is distilled from molasses using both traditional twin column and historic copper pot stills in Barbados. It first matures in former bourbon barrels for three to four years in the tropical Caribbean climate. It is then shipped to France, where it ages for an additional one to two years in French oak Ferrand casks.

I tend to favor molasses based rums from Barbados Planetary and The Real McCoy, highly recommend this rum.
dollar for dollar it's really hard to do better. honey, raisin, gentle spice, goes down easy, mixes well, not so expensive you'd feel bad mixing it... absolutely deserves to be a bar staple. every time i go liquor shopping i try to get something new, but this is the rum i get again and again, along with their 3 year.
