I've had various other honey liqueurs from "honey whiskeys" to meads but this is totally different. its sweet and spiced in a way that i would think a good mulled mead would taste like. It is not spicy the way high proof alcohols are, nor in the way capsaicin (spicy hot food/sauce), but like a spice cabinet is.
My palette is not good enough to pick out individual things in food and alcohol like some people can but it very pleasantly reminds me of autumn or winter spices, so probably like cinnamon, cloves, cardamom, and allspice. i would not claim that its subtle at all though, the spices are very apparent with both the smell and taste but not at all overpowering, just a wonderfully warming drink for my evenings as i wait for summer.
