About Won Mae Plum Liqueur

A maesil liqueur, made from Korean plums harvested at the peak of the ripeness for superior aromatics. Typically maesil is thought as tart and bitter green plum. However when maesil ripens it turns golden colored, the floral and tropical fruit aromatics intensify, and it and builds natural sweetness while retaining bright acidity. Such intensely ripe plums are so delicate and fragile that is is impossible to make them widely available commercially. However, since these maesil come from the family orchard, they are able to be harvested at the optimal moment for best flavor and aroma.

Tasting Notes for Won Mae Plum Liqueur

On the nose, exuberant tropical notes of mango and papaya with perfectly ripened apricot and peach notes. As it hits the palate, it provides hint of sweetness with bright and juicy acidity. It is nicely balanced with sweet and tart fruit flavors.

Suggested Serves

This is fantastic as is, chilled. It can be mixed with sparkling wine or club soda to make a refreshing spritz.

Production Notes

Won Mae is a maesil liqueur made with Korean golden plum harvested at its peak of ripeness. After maceration, local honey from Jeju island is added to give round texture and subtle sweetness. It is refreshing and light with an expression of abundant wild flowers and exotic tropical fruits.
