Other Ingredients

  • 0.50 fl oz Freshly squeezed pink grapefruit juice
  • 1.00 fl oz Fresh pressed pineapple juice
  • 1.00 fresh Egg yolk

Directions

  • Place sugar cube in base of shaker and saturate with Peychaud's bitters
  • Muddle sugar cube thoroughly until broken down
  • Add cognac and stir to ensure sugar is completely dissolved
  • Add remaining ingredients to shaker
  • Add ice and shake vigorously
  • Strain mixture back into shaker discarding ice
  • Dry shake vigorously without ice
  • Fine strain into chilled coupe glass
  • Express grapefruit zest twist over drink and discard
  • Float star anise on surface of cocktail
