The Black Anchor is a bold and alluring cocktail, combining rich, dark flavors with a bright citrus edge. It commands your attention from the first sip—smooth, with layers of unfolding complexity.
At its heart is Planetary Mister Fogg Navy Rum, a full-bodied rum that carries the weight of this cocktail with its deep, molasses-like sweetness and slight funk. Mr. Black Coffee Liqueur adds an earthy richness, bringing a touch of bitter, roasted coffee flavor that pairs beautifully with the rum. These two Misters are paired with blood orange cordial from Liber & Co that provides a vibrant citrus punch, and freshly squeezed lime juice which lends brightness and balance to the darker notes. A couple dashes of Angostura bitters pull everything together.
After a good shake, it’s strained over a large ice cube to keep it chilled and smooth. The garnish—a dehydrated blood orange slice and freshly grated nutmeg—adds a visual touch and a burst of aromatic spice.
The Black Anchor is bold and balanced, with a combination of sweet, sour, and bitter that makes it feel both familiar and unexpected. It’s the ideal drink for those who love a cocktail with depth, a little darkness, and plenty of character. Anchors aweigh!
