The Corn 'n Oil featuring Four Port Rum from Virago Spirits

Don't let this classic tiki drink mislead you. Though low-key compared to its more flamboyant cousins, it's just as tasty (plus simpler to make!).

Featuring neither corn nor oil, the cocktail's name is a reference to the drink's visual appearance. Get ready for a pleasing blend of spice, citrus, and the deep, warm flavors of high-quality aged rum. 

The almond notes of John D. Taylor's Velvet Falernum complement the taste of bright, tart lime and the richness of Virago Spirits' Four Port Rum, which is made from four distinctive Caribbean rums.


Ingredients

2 oz Four Port Rum from Virago Spirits
.5 oz John D. Taylor's Velvet Falernum
.25-.5 oz fresh-squeezed lime juice (to taste)
3 dashes Angostura bitters

Method

Build this drink in the glass. Add ice to a rocks glass, and then the Falernum, lime, and bitters. Stir briefly. Pour the rum over the back of a spoon into your glass to create the desired visual effect.  Or if you want to get straight to sipping, skip this step altogether and add the rum at the same time as the other ingredients.  Garnish with a lime wedge.
