Why We Love It
Del Maguey VIDA Puebla Mezcal stands out for its approachable yet complex flavor profile, making it an excellent gateway into the world of mezcal for cocktail enthusiasts. Unlike rum, which is made from sugarcane, this mezcal is crafted from 100% espadin agave grown in the high-altitude region of San Luis del Rio, Oaxaca, imparting a distinctive earthy and slightly smoky character that adds depth to cocktails without overpowering other ingredients.
How to Drink It
Del Maguey VIDA Puebla Mezcal shines when sipped neat or with a single large ice cube, allowing its smoky, earthy flavors to unfold on the palate. It also works wonderfully in spirit-forward cocktails that highlight its unique character, and pairs beautifully with grilled meats and spicy Mexican dishes, making it an ideal choice for outdoor summer gatherings or cozy winter evenings by the fire.

Tasting Notes
Nose: Smoky agave dominates, followed by earthy notes of clay and wet stone. Fresh citrus and green herbs provide brightness. Subtle hints of tropical fruit and vanilla emerge as it opens up.
Palate: Medium-bodied with a silky texture. The smoke is present but not overpowering. Roasted agave sweetness balances nicely with peppery spice. Flavors of lime zest, green apple, and grilled pineapple add complexity. A touch of minerality lingers throughout.
Finish: Long and warming. The smoke gently fades, leaving behind notes of caramelized agave, white pepper, and a pleasant vegetal quality reminiscent of bell peppers. A slight saline tang appears at the very end.
How It's Made
Del Maguey VIDA Puebla Mezcal is crafted using traditional methods in the village of San Luis del Rio, Oaxaca. The hearts of cultivated espadín agave are roasted in underground pit ovens, crushed by a horse-drawn tahona wheel, naturally fermented in wooden vats, and then double-distilled in copper pot stills, resulting in a smoky, vibrant spirit that captures the essence of its terroir.
