This rum is a little hot coming in at 114 proof, and may not be the most approachable for folks new to Jamaican style rums, it definitely has some of those "banana" esters that some people describe as over-ripe and/or funky and it certainly doesn't pull any punches. If you get past that though you are rewarded with a richly flavored rum full of personality. It isn't too sweet, and is excellent for mixing.

This has all the funky complexity of a Jamaican dark rum such as Myers, without the over the top molasses syrup bitter notes. Instead the finish is woodsy, clean and bright. The rum mixes fantastically in the various tiki drinks I have used it in, and in fact I have revisited some concoctions I did not care for with Myers and was blown away when I used Smith and Cross.
Great rum, fair price for its limited availability and quality. Top pick, I bought one bottle and killed it that month and bought another.

Title says it all, the flavor and aroma are delicious. Much like one of the other reviewers said, the taste and aroma is of over rip bananas and sweet with caramel. It is a very welcomed addition to my tropical drinks and personal fruity cocktails.

Mixes really well with other rums letting you up the proof of the drink while not making it undrinkable.

One of the finest beverages I have ever had, & the absolute perfect fit to my palate, this rum, while hot stuff, at its high proof is a surprisingly smooth thing. The nose tells it all before you even take your first sip, offering that overripe banana, caramel, & an unexpected light floral note. When you take your first sip, your taste will be thrown into a first wave that matches the nose, but betrays the floral note to be nearing hibiscus with a gentle turn towards a rich lavender -- to my wife's & my tongue, at least -- which is pushed into an undertone as fiery flavours of good aging & delightfully full & ripe banana clash for dominance for every moment you hold it. My first time with this particular rum has ensured it will be far from the last.
