Citadelle Jardin d'Été Gin is a Other Gin from the Citadelle Gin brand crafted in France.

Inspired by the summer garden at the Château de Bonbonnet, a little nature preserve where flowers, fruit and herbs flourish, Citadelle Jardin d’Été is a citrusy twist on the signature gin. Here, Citadelle’s core 19 botanicals (including, as always, the chateau’s estate juniper), are rebalanced to accommodate the addition of Charentais melon, whole lemon flesh, and yuzu peel.

Why We Love It

It captures the exact feeling of a breezy summer afternoon in a glass. The brilliant addition of sweet melon and tart yuzu perfectly complements the classic juniper, resulting in a wildly refreshing gin that is fruity and aromatic without ever losing its crisp, dry backbone.

How to Drink It

This gin was born for warm-weather sipping. Its absolute best application is a towering, ice-cold Gin & Tonic garnished with a simple lemon peel to highlight the citrus. It also shines brilliantly in a French 75 or a tall, bubbly summer spritz.

Tasting Notes

Nose: Fresh and vibrant with notes of candied lemon, sweet melon, and classic juniper.

Palate: Tart yuzu and bright citrus zest perfectly balanced by the juicy sweetness of Charentais melon, with an underlying hint of peppery spice.

Finish: Crisp, elegant, and dry, leaving lingering notes of citrus oil and angelica.

How It's Made

Citadelle uses a patented "Progressive Infusion" technique. Instead of throwing everything into the vat at once, each of the 22 botanicals is steeped in the base spirit for a specific, tailored amount of time to extract its optimal flavor. It is then distilled in traditional open-flame copper pot stills.

Fun Facts

  • The gin’s flavor profile was directly inspired by the real-life summer garden cultivated by Debbie Gabriel, wife of Citadelle’s founder, at their estate in Cognac, France.
  • The Charentais melons used in the gin are a prized local French delicacy, known for being exceptionally sweet and fragrant.
  • Citadelle was a pioneer of the French gin movement, with the brand essentially reviving artisanal gin distillation in the Cognac region.

    Very light, very just right.

Very light in flavor, makes an excellent room Collins, and if looks matter to you, it's a beautiful bottle. You won't be upset.
