Cocktail Description

This sophisticated riff on the classic martini brings Spanish sherry country directly to your glass with a nutty, elegant twist that'll make you rethink everything you know about gin cocktails.

The Roc-A-Coe marries London dry gin with dry amontillado sherry, creating a drink that's simultaneously crisp and complex. You'll get the botanical backbone of the Beefeater playing beautifully against the nutty, slightly oxidized character of the Los Arcos, with just enough sugar cane syrup to round out the edges without tipping into sweetness. The chilled water dilutes the spirit strength to a sippable level while opening up those delicate sherry flavors. This is an elegant aperitif that works brilliantly before dinner, particularly when you're serving Spanish tapas, roasted almonds, or Manchego cheese. The preparation is straightforward—just stirring, no shaking required—making it accessible for home bartenders who can handle proper stirring technique and chilling their glassware. That Luxardo cherry garnish isn't just for show; its slight sweetness and maraschino funk adds another layer to an already layered drink. Pair this with salty cured meats, olives, or anything involving jamón ibérico, and you've got yourself a pre-dinner situation that feels like a little vacation to Andalusia.
