Cocktail Description

This tropical powerhouse takes the classic Hurricane's DNA and cranks up the intensity with Navy strength rum that'll hit you harder than an unexpected squall at sea.

The Rum Squall builds on bright, citrusy foundations—fresh orange and lime juice create a sunny, tart base—while that 114-proof Hamilton Navy rum delivers serious punch and depth. The grenadine swirls dramatically around the edges, adding ribbons of pomegranate sweetness that slowly blend into each sip, creating an ever-changing flavor profile as you drink. It's bold but balanced, tropical but not too sweet, with the high-proof rum cutting through the fruit to keep things interesting from first sip to last.

This is a party drink through and through, perfect for summer cookouts, beach gatherings, or any time you want something festive that doesn't mess around. Making it requires a blender and fresh citrus, which means a bit more effort than stirring something in a glass, but the process is straightforward enough for home bartenders of any skill level. The most important instruction is actually restraining yourself from stirring after adding the grenadine—those swirling red patterns aren't just pretty, they create pockets of varying sweetness throughout the drink. Pair this with grilled seafood, jerk chicken, or anything with a spicy Caribbean kick, since the citrus and cold crushed ice will cool your palate between bites while the rum stands up to bold flavors.
