Goslings Black Seal Rum wasn't originally intended to be sold. In the early 1800s, the Gosling family was actually trying to import wine to Bermuda, but their ship got stuck at sea for months. The long journey accidentally "aged" their rum cargo, creating the signature dark color and rich flavor profile we know today.

The iconic "black seal" on the bottle isn't actually a seal (the animal). It's a reference to the black wax used to seal the cork on early bottles. Sailors started calling it "Black Seal" rum, and the name stuck. The company later added a playful seal illustration to match the nickname.

.75 oz Ancho Reyes Barrica Mexican Chile Liqueur

.5 oz Chairman’s Reserve Spiced Rum

.75 oz Orgeat Syrup

.5 oz pineapple juice

Combine all the ingredients in a shaker with ice and shake until chilled. Strain into a rocks glass over a single large ice cube. Garnish with nutmeg or a slice of pineapple.
