Cocktail Description

The Smoky Spiced Paloma takes Mexico's beloved grapefruit highball and gives it a smoldering makeover that'll wake up your palate.

This cocktail swaps traditional tequila for Del Maguey Vida Mezcal, bringing those distinctive smoky, earthy notes that play beautifully against the bright, tangy pink grapefruit juice and lime. The agave syrup rounds out the sharpness while the grapefruit soda adds a refreshing fizz, and that cinnamon-chili salt rim delivers a spicy-sweet kick with every sip. It's a drink that balances smoke, citrus, and heat in a way that feels both familiar and excitingly different.

Making this one at home is pretty straightforward—you'll need to juice some fresh grapefruit and lime, but beyond that it's just a quick shake and top. The cinnamon-chili rim requires a bit of prep, but it's worth the extra minute for the flavor it adds.

This cocktail shines at weekend brunches, backyard barbecues, or anytime you're grilling something with a char—think carne asada tacos, grilled shrimp, or even smoky pulled pork. The combination of smoke and spice makes it a natural companion for bold, savory foods with a bit of kick.
