Cocktail Description

This stunning riff on a classic sour brings the warmth of cognac and a serious ginger punch together in a silky, foam-topped beauty that drinks like royalty.

The Ginger Royale is a sophisticated cognac cocktail that balances the rich, fruity complexity of Hennessy V.S. with the fiery bite of fresh ginger and Barrow's Intense Ginger Liqueur, all softened by delicate pear juice and brightened with fresh lemon. The double dose of ginger liqueur means business—expect a spicy, warming sensation that's tempered by the pear's gentle sweetness and the cognac's grape-derived depth. A reverse dry shake creates that gorgeous, velvety foam cap dotted with aromatic bitters, making this as visually impressive as it is delicious. This cocktail shines at autumn dinner parties or as a festive holiday sipper when you want something special but not overly sweet. The technique requires a bit of effort—muddling fresh ginger, executing a proper reverse dry shake—so it's an intermediate-level drink that rewards your attention with professional results. Pair it with roasted pork tenderloin, duck confit, or aged cheeses like Comté or Gruyère, where the ginger's heat and cognac's warmth can stand up to rich, savory flavors without getting lost.
