Cocktail Description

This unlikely combination of celery, aged rum, and white crème de cacao sounds wild on paper, but it's a surprisingly sophisticated sipper that plays savory against sweet with serious finesse.

The Rum & Rummage starts with muddled celery that brings an earthy, vegetal backbone, while the Appleton Estate 8 Year Old Reserve adds warmth and subtle spice. White crème de cacao offers gentle chocolate notes without overwhelming sweetness, and the apple juice and sugar cane syrup round everything out with fruity depth and just enough body. A hit of lemon juice keeps it all bright and balanced. The result tastes like a grown-up fusion of orchard fruits, herbaceous greens, and mellow cocoa, with the aged rum tying it all together in a silky, complex package.

This is a cocktail for adventurous palates and cool-weather evenings when you want something off the beaten path. It's moderately challenging to make since you'll need fresh celery juice and a bit of muddling patience, but the technique is straightforward for anyone comfortable with a shaker. Serve it at a dinner party where you want to impress guests with something unexpected, or sip it as a pre-dinner drink that doubles as a conversation starter.

The quirky garnish of walnut, apple wedge, and blue cheese isn't just for show—it's a brilliant pairing guide. This drink loves cheese boards, roasted pork, or autumn salads with nuts and fruit.
