Cocktail Description

The Anise Star Martini proves that a vodka martini can be far more interesting than the usual olives-and-vermouth routine.

This sophisticated sipper balances Ketel One vodka with the orange complexity of Grand Marnier, bright lemon and apple juices, and a distinctive licorice note from anise syrup that makes the whole thing smell like a Parisian patisserie. The result tastes crisp and fruit-forward with a gentle herbal finish that keeps things from getting too sweet. It's surprisingly approachable despite the anise, which adds aromatic depth rather than overpowering the drink. This makes an excellent pre-dinner cocktail for fall and winter gatherings, especially around the holidays when you want something festive but not overly sugary. The technique is straightforward—just shake everything hard with ice and strain—making it accessible for home bartenders who can keep a steady hand while pouring into that sloped martini glass. Pair this with charcuterie, soft cheeses like brie or camembert, or roasted pork dishes where the anise echoes classic fennel pairings.
