Not a lot about Scotch screams summer, so it tends to be a back-shelf spirit during the hotter months. Not anymore. Here we have a cocktail recipe that's determined to change your mind, and will have you sipping a scotch cocktail poolside in no time.
The classic whisky sour gets a delicious melon spin when paired with the fresh and bright melon-y Midori. Midori's signature taste stands up to the layers of malted flavor that you find in scotch.
Here we recommend using a low-peat expression of scotch, like The Famous Grouse, a terrific cocktail all-arounder that's currently shipping free!
You can garnish with a couple of spheres of melon, or freeze a variety of different melon balls and use them in place of ice! Whichever way you serve it, this is a fresh, delicious, and festive summer scotch cocktail!
Ingredients
-
2 ounces low peat scotch, like The Famous Grouse Whiskey
-
1 oz Midori
-
2 oz lemon juice
-
1 oz simple syrup — If you don’t DIY, we recommend Liber & Co’s Classic Gum syrup!
-
Melon balls, for garnish or freeze and use them as ice in the final step
Directions
Add all ingredients except the garnish to an ice-filled shaker and shake well.
Strain into a glass filled with ice and garnish with melon balls
Recipe Note
Freeze different colors of melon and use them in place of ice for a festive version of this amazing cocktail!
