Six Ways to Martini: Substitutes & Swaps for Endless Variation
Martinis are the perfect template. With the right substitutes and swaps, there is no end to the variety of ways you can enjoy this iconic drink.
Read on for 6 easy martini recipes that require minimal ingredients, but each of which pack a dang punch.
Start with the classic, and go from there!
Recipe 1: Dry Martini
2.5oz gin (we recommend RIGHT Gin)
.5oz dry vermouth (we recommend Baldoria Dry Vermouth)
1 dash of orange bitters
lemon twist for garnish
Method: Add all ingredients to a mixing glass. Add ice and stir until very well-chilled, at least 30 seconds. Strain into a cocktail glass of your choice and garnish.
Recipe 2: Vodka Martini
Follow the Dry Martini recipe, substitute vodka (we recommend The Community Spirit Vodka) for gin. Garnish with a lemon. Or an olive!
Recipe 3: Vesper
3 oz. gin (we recommend RIGHT Gin)
1 oz vodka (we recommend The Community Spirit Vodka)
.5 oz Cocchi Americano Bianco or Lillet Blanc
Lemon twist for garnish
Method: Shake in a cocktail shaker with ice. Strain into a chilled glass. Garnish with a lemon twist
Recipe 4: Smoky Martini
Follow the Dry Martini recipe, substitute .25 oz blended scotch (we recommend Monkey Shoulder) for the vermouth. This is a Dale DeGroff classic, and for good reason!
Recipe 5: The Green Martini
Follow the Dry Martini recipe, use St. George Green Chile Vodka instead of gin.
Recipe 6: The Dreamy Dorini Smoking Martini
2 oz vodka
.5 oz Laphroaig 10 Year Single Malt
1 dash absinthe (we recommend Kübler Original Absinthe)
