Cocktail Description

This bourbon-based sling brings tropical Caribbean spice to the heart of American whiskey country, creating a drink that tastes like sunshine with a serious backbone.

The Bourbon Falernum Sling combines the warm vanilla and oak notes of cask-finished bourbon with the almond-clove-lime complexity of falernum, a sweetened Caribbean liqueur that adds instant island flavor. Pink grapefruit juice provides bright citrus punch while cranberry juice lends tartness and a gorgeous ruby hue, with honey rounding out all those sharp edges into something smooth and sippable. The drink strikes a sophisticated balance between sweet and tart, spiced and fruity, making it an excellent choice for evening cocktails when you want something refined but not overly serious. While it requires a bit more effort than a two-ingredient highball—you'll need to dissolve honey and shake vigorously with ice—the technique is straightforward enough for confident home bartenders. The grapefruit zest garnish isn't just pretty; give it a twist over the glass to release aromatic oils that complement every sip. This cocktail shines alongside brunch dishes like smoked salmon or glazed ham, and it's equally at home with spicy Thai or Caribbean cuisine where its fruity-spicy profile can stand up to bold flavors.
