Cocktail Description

When bourbon meets cognac in a berry-studded collision, you get a cocktail that refuses to play by the rules.

The Blackberry Bourbon Bramble Smash layers Savage & Cooke's cask-finished bourbon with Hennessy V.S. cognac, creating a spirit-forward base that's softened by muddled blackberries, raspberries, and bright mint leaves. The drink tastes like summer caught in a glass—jammy berry sweetness balanced by the bourbon's oak and spice, while the cognac adds subtle fruit notes and a velvety texture that rounds everything out. Sugar cane syrup ties the flavors together without making things cloying, and the churning technique with crushed ice creates that perfect slushy texture that makes each sip refreshing despite the bold spirits. This makes an ideal warm-weather sipper for late afternoon gatherings or backyard barbecues, though it's substantial enough for cooler evenings too. While the technique requires a bit of elbow grease with all that churning and ice-adding, the actual ingredients are straightforward and the muddling is forgiving—even first-timers can nail this one. Pair it with grilled meats that have a char on them, particularly lamb or pork ribs with a berry glaze, or serve alongside a cheese board featuring creamy brie and aged cheddar to complement both the fruit and the oak notes from the spirits.
